Which would carry out better - an Intel Pentium 4 531 at 3GHz or an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 at 1.86GHz?
Which would carry out better - an Intel Pentium 4 531 at 3GHz or an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 at 1.86GHz?
Without a doubt the core 2 duo.
My core duo 1.66ghz is faster than my out-of-date p4 3.0ghz
You can use the Toms Hardware Cpu chart to compare cpu's.

You should consider the graphics card and hard drive as ably as the cpu.
If you have a slow hdd and gpu beside the core 2 duo, it would be killed by the p4 next to a better hdd and gpu.
Core duo theoretically is designed to achieve better but it really depends what programmes you intend running. Not a simple question to answer.
the core 2 duo is much better you can overclock as capably so it would be even faster
Intel Core 2
Intel Core2 Duo is better
after so many populace answering and from my knowledge, i piece duo will perform better...At the come to an end of the day depends on what you use it for.. If you are merely going to do some word processing and send a few mail, you would not find a difference though...
I 'clocked' my Buddy's E6300 to 2.93Ghz which is about equal to the X6800 Extreme. It be amazing for Gaming but, for that purpose your Grafix would be a bottleneck.
