why doesnt my easier said than done drive use its full dimensions?

i enjoy a seagate 120gb hdd that i took from my old computer. i formated it up to that time installing it into my current comp. its only reading something like a 92gb capacity, and i know that surrounded by the previous comp, it had a dimensions of 111gb. Whats going on?

this drive is set as a slave to another 40gb drive in my HP desktop.

why doesnt my easier said than done drive use its full dimensions?

There are a couple of reason. First, you might have bleak sectors on the drive, respectively sector is 8Kbytes. You might have formatted it next to a smaller sector size which would expand the file table (making usable smaller) or you went from FAT to NTFS for your formatting. NTFS is better and faster but own more disk space overhead.

You can check this with some of the unprocessed disk editors if you feel brave but solitary do it if you know what you are doing (or are able to assume the risk.

Good Luck
you prob didnt format it correctly, usually within are 2 types of formats for windows, corpulent 32, and ntfs, there is a small dividing wall that needs to be delete with a prgram call partition magnet, however you would own to reprogram the computer. remember you always have need of atleast 15% Free disk space for it to work effectively, bottom line i wouldnt verbs about it unless you want to spend adjectives day reloading adjectives your programs
