Which RAM should I buy for a HP Pavillion 7940 and is it concrete to install?

As long as you attain PC-100 RAM, it should be good.

Your PC can support up to 2 sockets of 256-mb RAM, so that's 512 MB contained by all.

It shouldn't be sturdy to install. Once you buy the RAM, you should know what it looks like. Open up the PC and check out where on earth the RAM is. Then unlock the socket where you want to install the memory, and put it within! Make sure to relock the socket and close the PC.
Depends on how much your pc can hold and no its not basicly concrete just transport the side of your pc luggage off and near 2-4 slots on your motherboard just put it surrounded by one of those make sure theres one beside it and receive sure its the right kind im pretty sure your choices are 256 512 or 1 see i have pc2700 ddr 4 see ram and construct sure your pc is turned bad or if you dont feel close to doing it yourself worryed about breaking something rob it to your nearest pc repair store and im pretty sure they will put it contained by for you

Also depends on what ram you hold go to that cooperation it will help you find out what genus you have
